How It Works1-2-3 Door Shield® is manufactured in Denver, Colorado in partnership with a high volume, independent corrugated fiberboard manufacturer. Our manufacturing partner is one of the first independent packaging companies in Colorado to be granted Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) certification. Our standard product version consists of two-ply corrugated kraft board containing a patented, anti-static, abrasion-resistant inner liner designed to protect delicate finishes. The result is a product with excellent abrasion resistance which is also recyclable. This composite, heavy-duty pulp paper-based product effectively protects both sides of a door during and after door installation, and is durable enough for re-use. It is made from 100% recycled materials and, when it reaches the end of its useful life, can be recycled. The unique design of 1-2-3 Door Shield® includes a carefully calibrated series of engineered perforations that allow the product to be precisely folded for shipping and handling, and to prevent damage to the protective inner liner. 1-2-3 Door Shield® also features pre-engineered cut outs for door latch and closer hardware, as well as specially-designed saddle tape and edge fasteners that will not adhere to or damage delicate door finishes. The product comes pre-assembled with illustrated bilingual installation instructions printed on the product to ensure the highest level of quality control for the end user. There are two primary products in the 1-2-3 Door Shield® family of products: The Protector and SlimLite Door Shields and two accessories to adapt them to taller and wider doors - The Extender and The Suspender. We also have another product that integrates with either Door Shield to protect the edges of the doors (as described below). Both The Protector and SlimLite come pre-assembled and can be easily re-folded and secured for easy transport or storage for re-use. The Protector is our most durable Door Shield and is the product most commercial builders use to protect their most vulnerable doors. It is a two-ply pre-engineered product that will withstand in excess of 400 psi of burst pressure. The Protector is packaged in five-pack boxes with ten boxes per pallet of 50. The pallet is then stretch wrapped. The Protector can be purchased in single-pallet 50-unit orders for sizes 3068, 3070 and 3080, all of which we carry in stock. Any other sizes require a minimum order of 350 units per size and two to three weeks lead time. Sometimes a project has a large number of one of the two most common size doors and a small number of taller or wider doors. In such a case, a minimum order of 350 units is usually not feasible. To accommodate these occasional taller and wider doors, we have developed two accessory products that make it possible to adapt either a 3070 or 3080 Door Shield to protect a taller or wider door. These two accessory products are referred to as The Extender (for wider doors) and The Suspender (for taller doors). The Extender is constructed exactly like The Protector – two-ply corrugate with an anti-static and abrasion resistant inner liner and saddle tape to allow The Extender to hang from the top of the door. The Extender measures 2’6”x 8’0” and perforated to separate in six-inch increments. The bottom of The Extender is perforated to allow removal to fit door heights of 7’10”, 7’6” and 7’0”. The Extender is installed on the hinge side of the door and secured to the door with the supplied hook-and-loop fasteners. Once The Extender is in place, the three-foot wide Door Shield Protector can be installed, butting up against The Extender and secured with hook-and-loop fasteners on the strike side of the door. The Protector and The Extender are then secured together using several short lengths of customer-supplied packing tape (or similar tape). The Extender is packaged five per carton ( a total of 25 six-inch segments) and can be ordered in single carton quantities. The Suspender is designed to allow a 3070 or 3080 Door Shield Protector (and Extender, if necessary) to adapt to protect the bottom seven or eight feet of a taller door. The Suspender Adaptor Kit includes a four-meter length of sturdy ribbon, a cord lock and installation instructions. The saddle tape is slit on the job site and the ribbon is threaded through pre-perforated holes and secured with the cord lock at the appropriate height for the door. The Suspender Adaptor Kits can be purchased individually. SlimLite is a lower cost version of The Protector designed for the residential and home improvement markets and is currently available only in 3068, 3070 and 3080 sizes. It is a one-ply pre-engineered product that will withstand about 275 psi of burst pressure. SlimLite is packaged in ten-pack boxes with ten boxes per pallet of 100. The pallet is then stretch wrapped. SlimLite retails for about 25% less than The Protector. This product requires a minimum order of 350 units and two to three weeks lead time. 1-2-3 Edge Shield is our door edge protection system that works in conjunction with The Protector and SlimLite to protect both the strike and hinge edges of the door. 1-2-3 Door Shield® products are only available through Distributors. Ask your door and hardware supplier or contact us for a Distributor near you. All of our products can be branded with a custom logo or message.
