The opening of Seminole Brighton Bay Hotel & Casino marked a major milestone for the Brighton Seminole Reservation and the greater Lake Okeechobee region. The new property officially opened on February 6, 2025, replacing the longtime Seminole Casino Brighton and becoming the first four-star resort in the Lake Okeechobee region. One year later, the property was preparing to celebrate its first anniversary, a sign of how quickly it had established itself as a new destination for gaming, hospitality, dining, and entertainment in Okeechobee, Florida.
A Major Addition to the Brighton Reservation
The project brought something entirely new to the reservation: the first hotel ever built on the Brighton Seminole Reservation. The resort includes a 100-room hotel across four floors, totaling 72,000 square feet, along with a nearly 38,000-square-foot casino featuring 640 slot machines and 18 table games. Guests also have access to an event space that can accommodate banquets or performances, multiple dining concepts, and a bowling alley, making the property much more than a traditional casino expansion.
Built for More Than Gaming
What makes this project stand out is how fully it broadens the guest experience. In addition to hotel rooms and gaming space, the resort was designed to support longer stays and more varied visits, with restaurants, gathering spaces, and entertainment amenities that help position it as a true regional destination. The property has also become one of the area’s larger employers, with more than 500 team members at the casino and hotel complex, reinforcing its economic importance to the surrounding community.
Construction and Design Collaboration
The project moved from groundbreaking in January 2023 to a topping out ceremony in June 2024, ahead of its 2025 debut. According to the project’s topping out announcement, construction was managed by a joint venture of Suffolk and WilMen, while architectural design was led by Grace Hebert Curtis Architects. Together, the teams delivered a large-scale casino hotel development that transformed a previously undeveloped site on the Brighton Seminole Reservation into a new hospitality and entertainment destination.
A Project With Lasting Impact
Seminole Brighton Bay Hotel & Casino represents more than a new building. It reflects long-term investment in the reservation, in the visitor experience, and in the surrounding region’s tourism economy. From its opening day celebrations to its first anniversary, the property has signaled a new era for hospitality near Lake Okeechobee while honoring the site’s connection to the Seminole Tribe of Florida and the Brighton community.
